The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom

This was the first game I ever scored. Hard to listen to without heavy nostalgia. I imagine this jaunty track doesn't carry the same emotional import for you, dear listener, but I
hope you enjoy it all the same.

In other news, here's a love song the knight "Whisper" sings to his wife, Amaya. Shout out to Richard White (the OG Gaston) singing the title role.

BIO
David Stanton is a Los Angeles based composer most known for his association with the Odd Gentlemen, creators of the 2017 reboot of the popular Sierra PC adventure game series "King's Quest." Ever since their first collaboration on the award-winning Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom, he has scored and added sound design to over 40 SKUs, becoming a key member of the creative team.
Having attended USC’s SMPTV Program (Scoring for Motion Picture and Television), David studied under Jack Smalley, Lennie Moore, and Sharon Lavery. In undergrad, he attended St. Olaf College where he was mentored by Peter Hamlin and won the Minnesota State Composition Contest for Piano his Sophomore year.
David grew up in El Paso, Texas and discovered music at an early age, becoming competent in percussion, several wind instruments (mostly kazoo), and piano. Under his infinitely wise piano/theory teacher, Mrs. Booth, he found that writing music could get him out of having to practice literature. That key insight (and her guidance) spurred nearly all of his compositional advancements, eventually helping him to win the Texas High School Composition Contest two years in a row. David finds that the habit of writing to get out of other responsibilities remains effective to this day.
From classical to quirky, ambient to thriller, David has written in many genres. The selected demos included in this site are indicative but not proscriptive of his sound palette. He hopes you enjoy them and wants you to know that you look nice today.
